Everyone liked the idea to organise a cycling contest including the most demanding and most impressive ascents of the Appennines of Romagna when it was first launched. But no-one of the 9 friends who had the idea had ever thought that this race would find so much enthusiasm after it started on 20.5.1971

Around 10.000 participants take part in this race every year.
